At some point I will add a photo, but for now here's a recipe for Crockpot Cajun Pot Roast. This is one of those "throw it all in the slow cooker and wait" kind of recipes. You can use whatever Cajun seasoning you like. I either use Tony C's (in which case I reduce it slightly or another brand called Badia.
CrockPot Cajun Pot Roast
2 lb. boneless beef chuck roast
1 Tbsp. Cajun seasoning
1 onion, chopped
14 oz. can fire roasted diced tomatoes
½ tsp. hot sauce (Tabasco or Sriracha)
⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
Sprinkle Cajun seasoning over roast and rub to coat
well. Combine all ingredients in crockpot. Cover and cook on low setting for 8-10 hours.
Serves 6

I think I know that lemonade cookie recipe you were talking about. My mom doctored up that recipe so it eventually turned into a good recipe -- you add lemon zest along with the lemonade concentrate to the dough. When cooled, you make a lemon frosting -- a basic white butter frosting -- except add more lemon zest and lemon juice. That made all of the difference in the world to those cookies. LOL I know what you mean, though, such a dissapointment when you try a new recipe and it doesn't turn out!

Once my mom did the same thing with the meat in the crock pot. I asked her, didn't you notice the light wasn't on? And she informed me that crock pots sold in 1978 don't have lights. :0) Thanks for sharing that you make mistakes in the kitchen too!
Brooke says
I totally would have cooked that meat and eaten it anyway. Is that bad? 😉
Chris says
I totally feel for you! I made a 7Up cake last week and last night I made a wreck out of chocolate chip cookies. I couldn't believe that I made such a wonderful cake last week that was gone in four days, but I couldn't make some simple cookies.

Anna, I recently made a watery peach crisp. I used peaches that I blanched to remove the skin and then froze. I don't know what happened. My crisp looked like your pie. I even added cornstarch to prevent that from happening. Thanks for blogging. Mary

Oh my! What a day!! Today is bound to be better, and I hope the second pie turned out for you. You were very brave to try it again. I doubt that I would have. Your crock pot story is really sad, but it falls into the category of !@&%&$ happens. So sorry it happened to you!
Peach pie makes me think of something called peach kuchen. It's very much like a pie baked in a different pan. It's an old family recipe from my Grandma.
Sheila says
I HATE days like that! So, did you order pizza for dinner?
Lisa says
Yes, we all have days like that. When all else fails you might try "Breakfast for Dinner". It's always a big hit over here.
Brenda says
Sorry you had such a hard day in the kitchen. I'm not sure if you know this tip about peeling peaches but it you bring a pan of water to a boil then slip your peach in for about 10 seconds then pull it out and into an ice bath the peel will slip off without any problems. I had some Fredricksburg peaches last year and they were wonderful! I made a great peach cobbler with them.
Cherie says
Believe me, I've had days like that too!
Laurie says
So Sorry Anna! We have all had days like that and yet, we get up the next day and do it all over again! Laurie

I'm sorry, I laughed when I saw your pie - I had a similar disaster with a banana cream pie that turned into a "banana cream slurpee".
What a day - I've had more of those than I care to admit! But you're the High Priestess of Baking!! Tomorrow will be business as usual for Cookie Madness!

Katrina, I guess I'm a big geek because the fact that you chose the One Bowl Brownie recipe as your Go-To Brownie just made my day. I think it was the high point of my day, actually.
Also....@#%(*#% xylitol. I'm still scared to try it. At least it worked in the cheesecake.
Jackie, I'm definitely going to try the recipe again at some point this week. I am still mad at myself for throwing away a whole sirloin tip roast, but at least it was small.
Joanna, I loves me some cookie dough ice cream. Blue Bell makes the best. Seriously, they do.
Joanna says
Wow. What a day! I probably would've given the cookies to someone I didn't like. haha as far as the pie goes, I don't dislike anyone enough to give them a mushy pie. At least you ended up having a good dinner! I didn't feel like making anything so I had a pint of cookie dough ice cream. haha 🙂
Jackie says
Yum. The Cajun Roast sounds really good. Sometimes crockpot meals can be rather bland but this sounds tasty.

Wow, what a day in the kitchen! I'm feeling your frustration. Yesterday (for my sons birthday) I whipped up two batches of brownies, except dummy me, instead of making Your One Bowl Cocoa Brownies, that I now consider my all time go-to brownie, I tried a different recipe--supposedly Hershey's BEST Brownies. I really thought the recipe sounded similar to yours, but it didn't bake up that way. The brownies WERE edible, but not NEARLY as good as yours. SO, I then whipped up a half batch of yours, but thought I'd be clever and try to make it healthier. So I used whole wheat pastry flour, Egg Beaters, and xylitol. YUCK! The brownies were dry, very crumbly and tasted well, not good at all. Threw them out!
So--you are not alone!
I'm trying to blog a week's worth of good stuff though and hope to get it done sometime tonight. Lots of yummy goodies make up for the few failures.

Veggiegirl, I couldn't wait until tomorrow! I was able to round up more ingredients and made a second version of the pie. I'm waiting for it to cool.
Hannah, thanks so much! I will swing by. I love getting awards but haven't been good about giving them. I need to get on that.
Hi Pam! It's nice to hear from you :). Sorry the experiments didn't work, but I have to admit, I feel a little less lonely in my failure. At least you're making some racoons happy.
Rita, I am going to post some peach peeling tips soon. I think I'm an expert peach peeler. LOL.
Carole, our default sandwich is the BLT.
Heart of Glass, I read all the Ramona books too! For some reason, I don't remember that episode. Then again, I probably didn't know what a crockpot was at the time and didn't think too much of it.
I had a pre-marinated onion & garlic pork loin so we're having that. Our grocery store sells these ready to go cuts of meat that you just bake. Pretty convenient. Sides are rice and salad. I can't screw up white rice.
HeartofGlass says
To be great means occasionally to make great failures!
In one of my favorite books as a child, Ramona & Her Father, a chapter revolves around a family quarrel because no one turned on the crock pot for dinner. In the less sanitary 70s, they just turned on the pot for the next night and had pancakes.
I blame the charming looking recipe book with the questionable contents for setting you off your stride!
What was the final meal at Chez Anna?
Carole R. says
I would have quit after the cookies!!! If all else fails make tuna sandwiches for dinner.
clumbsycookie says
Poor Anna! I feel so sad when ingredients go to waste... but good for you for seeing the bright side! It's allways good to know how to peel peaches! 😉

Anna, you are too funny. I have spent the day too in the kitchen. I had 4 ideas I wanted to try. I only got 2 and then a half recipe made. Had to go to the store twice during this ordeal, spent all day,and still have to finish cleaning up my messes. My supper was a crockpot but thank heavens I did turn it on. My recipes are just ok but I don't think worth giving to people. I live in the woods so the racoons get my experiments. They are going to be on sugar overload tonight. Looking forward to your recipe tommorrow. The pie crust looks great & really the filling did too, except for like you said a little runny. get some rest!!! Pam

That has happened to us before as well! We also wanted to let you know that we chose you for a blog award! Check out our blog to see what you have to do!

No worries, Anna - it happens to the best of us. I KNOW you'll be on top of it all tomorrow 🙂
