This recipe for Peanut Butter Filled Pretzel Bark is one I originally posted back in 2013. Since then it's become very popular, and for good reason. This candy is so easy to make and fulfilling on every level. My version of the recipe calls for chocolate, peanut butter, marshmallows and pretzels. Everyone's is going to be different based on what brands/type chocolate, pretzels, and peanut butter. For my latest batch, I made it sugar free with Trader Joe's allulose sweetened chips, protein pretzels and Teddie peanut butter.

How to Make Peanut Butter Pretzel Bark

To make the bark, you put a thin layer of melted chocolate on a parchment lined tray, then press in some large pretzels, peanuts and miniature marshmallows. Here's a photo.

Chocolate Bark

The next step is to chill and let set. When chocolate is set, fill a few of the pretzel loops with peanut butter. Lovely!

Melt some more chocolate, spread it over the bark and let it set again. When set, break it into large chunks and drizzle with some melted white chocolate.

Pretzel Bark Variations

The nice thing about this recipe is you can vary the batch size pretty easily and there's no measuring required. All you need is your favorite chocolate, a bunch of large pretzels, a handful of peanuts, some mini marshmallows (which are optional), and some good peanut butter. And finally, the white chocolate drizzle is optional, but I think it looks nice.

Recipe Card

I noticed I never made a recipe card for this one back when I posted it in 2013. It's not really so difficult that you need a recipe, but here's a printable card that tells how to make a small batch.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz any kind of chocolate
  • ½ oz pretzels
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter, your favorite

Instructions

  • Melt the chocolate in the microwave at 50% power, stopping to stir often.
  • Set a piece of parchment on a small baking sheet or tray. Spread half of the melted chocolate thinly over the parchment making a slab about 5x5.
  • Spread peanut butter on some pretzels and press them into the chocolate. If using pretzels with loops, put the peanut butter in the loops. Actually, dot the peanut butter in there however you feel like doing it. This is a no-recipe recipe.
  • Scrape remaining melted chocolate over the pretzels and spread, covering them all or leaving parts exposed.
  • Allow the bark to set at room temperature or quick set in the freezer. Break the bark into pieces.

A toaster oven might be a good idea for hot weather. I hadn't thought about that before.

I love this bark! And boo for broken ovens. But the toaster oven really can come in handy!

Erika, mine is plugging away right now baking potatoes. It's a Black & Decker and so far, it works very well. I was able to make a loaf pan size batch of bar cookies in it, so I'm getting by ;).

About the peanut butter, you could try using almond or cashew butter. Or you could leave the peanut butter out and fill the loops with melted caramel or Nutella or something else entirely (????). This is basically a lazy way to get a chocolate covered pretzel fix.

Oh, and that peanut butter in the pretzels? Genius. I would totally make these for Christmas, except I have a peanut allergic nephew, and since you can't see the peanut butter, I would worry that he's try a piece when no one is looking.

I guess that means I have to make some for myself, right?

We got a toaster oven this summer, literally days before our oven went out. I was surprised how much that puppy could handle! Stuffed shells, pizzas, baked chicken, and I even made homemade bread in the toaster oven. The oven was repaired about a week later, but now when I need the oven for something, first I see if I can get by with using the toaster oven.

I love that you give a shout out to the toaster oven. Good for more than just toast! I "need" one. With the right kind of chocolate and add-ins, can can/should have bark. 😉

I used Dove Promises -- 4 squares to make the 6 inch base and 6 squares to make the topping. You'll probably want to quadruple the amount, but if you want to make a mini batch that is how much I used.

That looks good, I think I'd use mini pretzels tho. What kind of chocolate did you use?
